Local iQ Magazine presents the fourth annual installment of the state's biggest microbrew festival — the NEW MEXICO BREW FEST. Held on the beautiful grounds of the Villa Hispana complex at NM Expo, NMBF features an ever-expanding lineup of New Mexico breweries pouring tastes and pints to thirsty hop heads. Eight out of state breweries will also be on hand in the WHOLE FOODS MARKET BEER VILLAGE, including New Belgium, Deschutes, Stone, Oskar Blues, Left Hand Brewing, Odell & Sierra Nevada

Also included in this five hour Oktoberfest-themed event is a roster of inventive local food trucks, including Supper, Rustic and The Last Call and hours of live music all set in a very family-friendly, picnic-like atmosphere.

Bands confirmed to play this year are Santa Fe's Todd and the Fox, Mondo Vibrations, 11-piece German oompah band Die Polka-schlingel and Arizona's premier Irish rock band Keltic Cowboys. For a preview of the music this year, view the videos posted below.

Balloon Fiesta

General admission $8 any session, any day Kids 12 and under FREE

Guests from all over the world come to Albuquerque to celebrate ballooning. Literally hundreds of balloons will be taking flight from the Balloon Fiesta Park this year October 5 through 13, 2013.
Balloon Fiesta—which, with over 600 balloons, is the largest ballooning event on earth, the most photographed event on earth, and the largest annual international event held in the United States.

When should I arrive at Balloon Fiesta Park?

Since crowds for some of our events are in excess of 100,000 people, arriving sooner is better. For weekend events, plan to arrive at the park by 4:30-5:00am. During evening events, try to be at the park by 4pm. Gates open at 4:30am and 3:00pm.

Where do we park?

We have general parking lots on the north and south ends of the park for $10 every time you park. Each parking lot is color-coded and the gates are numbered, so please remember the color and number of the gate through which you entered the field.

Can we bring food and drinks into the park?

Yes, but you cannot bring glass or alcohol and your bags or coolers are subject to search.

Where are the ATMs located at Balloon Fiesta Park?

There are ATMs at both the north and south ends of Main Street and near the Stage in the middle of Main Street.

What are typical weather conditions, and what do I wear?

Generally, temperatures in the morning are around 20-40°F, warming up to about 50-70°F by noon. Bring a jacket and dress in layers. Also remember to wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring sunscreen to put on after the sun is up. You will be at a high altitude and are at risk for sunburn. Bring appropriate eye protection. Crew Registration

If you are interested in joining a chase crew for the 2013 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta plan to attend registration at Balloon Fiesta Park in the pilot's Landing (large white tent on the SE end of the Park) or go to the Chase Crew tower prior to any event. For more information contact the Chase Crew Coordinator Cindy Moores at 505-974-0178.

Pre-registration times are: Wednesday, October 2nd 5-8pm
Thursday, October 3rd 10am-4pm
Friday, October 4th 10am-6pm

You will receive a pilot assignment and be able to view a training video at registration.

Albuquerque Alpacas go see Live Alpacas

During Balloon fiesta you will have opportunities to buy Alpaca merchandise but have you ever met one in person. they are furry and cute. kind of like a big sheep or small furry horse. While driving down Alameda you see the signs on the weekend for Albuquerque Alpacas well this weekend we stopped and met a few. Luxor just a baby still only 3 months old came out of his pen to meet us. You can pet them on the neck and back. they don't prefer to be pet on the head too much. Phillip my son was intrigued with the Alpacas, would love to bring one home with us. Well not today. but they do have a gift shop open weekends (weekdays by appt) with sweaters, slippers, scarves, bears, and little baby alpacas you can take home for only 6.50. Compact enough to put on the Christmas tree. no feeding necessary since the tiny handheld ones are stuffed. The Santa Fe Renaissance Fair is a community event whose proceeds assist The Interfaith Community Shelter in serving the homeless with compassion and respect and also benefit the educational programs ofEl Rancho de las Golondrinas.

The idyllic site, El Rancho de las Golondrinas, is a Spanish colonial outdoor living history museum, with 200 acres of historical recreations, including working gristmills, a blacksmith, a wheelwright and many other outstanding attractions to discover!

• This year, the Fair is once again condensed to 12 open days, running consecutively: September 11-22.
• General Parking will once again be FREE throughout the run of the Fair. Some “Preferred” paid parking will also be available.
• General Hours of Operation are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday thru Thursday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday
• Gate 9 (Louisiana just north of Central) is permanently CLOSED to Fair traffic. Fairgoers wishing to park on the grounds may use Gate 8 (Louisiana just south of Lomas) and Gate 1 off Central Avenue.
• The 2013 State Fair will open at 10 a.m. every day!
• Admission is $10 Adults (12-64), $7 (Seniors (65 and up), $7 Kids (11 and under), FREE for Kids 5 and under!
• All schedules—livestock shows, contests, exhibits, entertainment, Rodeo, Tingley concerts, Parade, etc.—are currently being posted at www.ExpoNM.com August and September as they become available. Please check back often, as updates are made daily.
